Pengetahuan, Sikap dan Perilaku Terhadap AIDS Pemuda “Anak Jalanan” di Kotamadya Semarang

Background : The number of AIDS in the word, is getting increase from year to year. One statement of London Declaration on AIDS Prevention (1988) stated that the most important component of AIDS prevention are information and education.

A group of juvenile delinquent, “Street Boys and Girls”, is considered to have susceptible behaviors for AIDS”s contamination . To find out the proper approach of AIDS”s prevention to them, is required a deep as well as an accurate knowledge about their health reproductive behaviors.

Design : an explorative study, which the data collection was done cross sectionally, asing qualitative and quantitative approach.

Setting : Semarang Municipality.

Participants : “Street Boys / Girls”

Intervention : none

Main Outcome Measure (s) : The description of reproductive behaviors of “Street Boys / Girls”.

Result : Focus group discussions as well as in depth interviews have been done to 60 respondents, while the questioners have been filled by 514 respondents.

Most of the respondents were 16 – 28 years old, consisted of almost equal number of geader.

Most of them have been drop-out from clementary or high school. The biggest part of them have no fixed job or jobless, un marriage, and come from low social economic house-hold. The respondents were prefer to live in a group and most of them have experience on extra marital sexual intercourse. Their knowledge about the risk of having extra marital sexual intercourse is only limited on worry of getting pregnant and suffering from sexual transmitted disease. Most of them don”t use any contraceptive devices during their sexual intercourse. Home sexual is reraly found. The knowledge about AIDS is very limited, and they could not differentiate it to other sexual transmitted diseases.

Conclusion : The “Street Boys / Girls”  have limited knowledge about AIDS and prevention and they have susceptible behavior to get AIDS.
