Pengaruh Pemberian Zat Besi dan Zinc Terhadap Kadar Hb dan Status gizi Anak Sekolah dasar di daerah endemis Malaria

Latar belakang: anemia, gizi kurang dan angka kesakitan malaria yang tinggi di kalangan anak sekolah dasar masih banyak dijumpai di daerah endemik malaria .
Zinc (Zn) yang berfungsi untuk meningkatkan imunitas dan nafsu makan , dan zat besi (Fe) diharapkan dapat memperbaiki status gizi dan anemia penderita malaria

Metode :
Desain penelitian adalah Quaisi Experimental yang dlakukan selama 3 bulan dengan menggunakan Non Equivalent Pre post Controll group Design disertai peralkuan secara double blind . populasi adalah anak sekolah dasar di desa Bena , kecamatan Amanuban selatan , Kabupaten Kupang. Setelah ditapis dengan kriteria inklusi (penderita malaria, ada pembesaran limpha, kadar Hb<12 gr %) didapat 43 anak, yang kemudian dipilih secara acak sebanyak 30 dan dibagi menjadi 3 kelompok . selurh sampel sebelum perlakuan , diberi obat cacing mebendazole 500 mg dan obat anti malaria chloroquine 250 mg. Kelompok I,II,III berturut turut diberi Zn, Zn + Fe bersama sam a dan Zn dan Fe secara berslang seling.

Hasil:
Terjadi kenaikan kadar Hb dan berat badan cukup bermakna antara sebelum dan sesudah perlakuan tiap kelompok (p<0,05) . Kenaikan kadar Hb dan berat badan tinggi dijumpai pada kelompk III , namun kenaikan tinggi badab yang bermakna hanya terjadi pada kelompok III. Ditemukan pula bahwa pemberian Zn dapat meinghilangkan pembesaran limpha.

Simpulan :
Suplementasi Zn dan Fe secara berseling seling memberiakn hasil yang lebih baik daripada Zn saja atau Zn + Fe bersama sama terhadap kenaikan Hb , Berat badan dan tinggi badan anak sekolah di daerah endemik malaria.

The Effect of Iron and Zinc Supplementation on the Hemoglobine and Nutritional Status of scholl children living in malaria endemic area.

Background: Malnutrition , anemia and high malara pravelance among is common in endemic malaria areas . Zinc (Zn) , is known to improve immune status and appetite , and iron (Fe) , is expected to improve the nutritional status and anemia of children with malaria.

Methods:
  A qusi experiment of 3 month observation using double blind approach in on eqivalent pre post control group design was carried out in Benna Village, kecamatan Amanuban , Kabupaten Kupang,. After being screened wih inclusion criteria (suffering from malaria, positive spleen enlargemebnt, hemoglobin <12 g%, 30 samples were chosen randomly from 43 school children . They were devided randomly into 3 group and all received mebendazole 500 mg and chloroquine 250 mg before supplementation. group I, II, III respectively received supplementation of Zn, Zn +Fe given toghether , and Zn and Fe given alternately.

Result :
There were significantly improvement in Hb and weight after suplementation in all 3 groups (p’s <0,05). Among groups , the signifficant differences in Hb and weight gain was between group I and III . The highest Hb and weight gain were found in group III.
Spleen size was decreased after suplementation.


Conclusion :
Zn and Fe given alternately gave beteer result in Hb, weight ang height improvement among schollchildren with malaria compared to those given Zn only or Zn +Fe toghether
