Jamur cendawan telah dikenal luas sebagai salah satu jenis makanan y ang mempunyai kandungan gizi yang baik Berbagai jenis jamur cendawan yang clapat dikonsumsi telah berhasil dibudidayakan . Beberapa jenis jamur cendawan yang dapat dikonsumsi telah digunakan oleh penduduk China dan Jepang sebagai obat dan tonikum tradisional . Berdasarkan kandungan senyawa bioaktifnya jamur cendawan dikelompokkan menjadi functional food dan nutritional food.
Mushrooms have been widely known as a source ofhwnan nutritious food since a long period of time, because oftheirflavor and texture. Several number species of edible mushroc have now being succesfiully domesticated and cultivated. Many edible mush ro have been traditionally used in China and Japan for their medicinal and tonic properties. Based on their nutritive value, edible mushrooms are divided into two groups, which are as firnctional food and as nutritional food, depends on their hioactive substances content.
